Message from Global Head

As an international trading company expansively involved in the global supply chain, we understand the significance of the role we play in environmental, social and sustainability causes present in today’s global trade. Our corporate principle “Shoki Hoko” is the driving force of our commitment towards enriching society and preserving our global environment.

We aim to promote CSR in the conduct of our business, strengthening our communication with our suppliers, business partners and industry peers and ensure that the company and all its suppliers take the same fundamental position towards the themes addressed in our policies, which include human and labor rights, anti-corruption and environmental conservation. We commenced the annual supply chain survey in 2022 to monitor the status of our suppliers’ compliance with the ”Mitsubishi Corporation Policy for Sustainable Supply Chain Management”. This is an annual exercise to ensure the activities in the entire supply cycle from procurement of raw materials right to the final distribution and sales of goods is aligned to relevant international laws and norms such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

The company has also embarked on a digital transformation journey and these intiatives spearheaded by our IT Department has greatly reduced paper consumption and improve process efficiency. We are also incorporating sustainability in our daily office activities such as recycling office equipments and furnitures and installing motion-activated light sensors to reduce energy consumption.

Doing what is right for our planet earth is more than simply adhering to corporate directives and regulations. It is a collective desire and mindset from individuals, corporations and societies to value and preserve the fragile ecosystems we co-exist in. I encourage you to take the first step, be it big or small, and start making a difference.

Finally, I would like to share this quote by Jacques-Yves Cousteau: “For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive; in this century he is beginning to realize that, in order to survive, he must protect it.” A poignant reminder to us all that time is of the essence to do what is right to protect and preserve our planet. It is my sincere belief that our collaborative pursuit with key stakeholders towards sustainability in the business will positively impact the preservation of the global environment.
